Hm, you're not paying attention to the info we provide. Yes, there was a numbering change for Morocco about 1 year ago. Indeed you must add a 6 before 7. All these changes are explained on http://www.howtocallabroad.com/forums/topic/morocco-telephone-numbering-changes and this page is also linked from http://www.howtocallabroad.com/results.php?callfrom=south_africa&callto=morocco

Do I dial 00212 6 705... ? or 00212 605... and not 705... ??

To place a collect call, service can be either provided by the called party's phone company or by a third party provider. In the first case you should ask the called party's phone company if they allow for collect calls from outside the country and if so what number you should dial to place such a call. For the latter, you must find a company that provides this service for calls from Russia to Canada.

Hi,
You don't need to add 011 81 because you are actually dialing a US cell number roaming in Japan. Try dialing the number the way you do when your son is in the US. Here's a page explaining in detail how international roaming works.

I've called from both a cell and a land line and both times got a recording that I've reached a non-working number. Do I need to buy a calling card with a pin to use for calling Japan?

When roaming you will place calls just like other subscribers from the new network place calls. In other words you should be able to dial local US calls by entering the 7 digit local number. If it doesn't work add the area code (952 or 612). As for calling back to the UK you can either use +44 or 01144. You will indeed need to drop the starting zero from the UK numbers.

I'm flying from the UK to Minneapolis and will need to make a few local calls to land line numbers like 1-952-830-???? and 952-838-???? and mobile numbers like 612-669-???? etc. I'll also need to phone back to the UK.

Phoning back to the UK seems to be you add +44 to the front of the number then drop the 0 from the front of the UK number then it should work. Although someone told me I should put in +0044.

Also for using my UK phone to ring local Minneapolis numbers what should I be entering?

Sorry, I'm a bit unsure.

These are special numbers often not available for calls from outside the UK. To dial this number correctly from Australia you would enter: 0011 44 30.... (lose the first zero). If it's not working try finding a regular contact number for this hospital.

Just to make sure I understand this correctly: you mean the 233 country code line would be used by someone who is in the UK? If so, this is possible with some VoIP services. Basically, some VoIP companies provide a globally available service meaning that you get a number registered in a certain country and when traveling abroad you keep the same number (provided you place calls via an Internet connection).

Hello,

Dialing from a public phone is no different than using a home phone. To cal Malaysia dial 011 60 + phone number. Here's a page showing Malaysian area codes and other info.

The best option for calling using a public phone is to buy a prepaid calling card that has a toll free access number. This way you will be able to place the call without having to put any money into the public phone (although some public phones may charge for dialing a toll free number). So: buy a prepaid card with toll free access number, dial the toll free number and follow the instructions.

I am currently working in Baghdad, Iraq and bought a cell phone here on base. It is a prepaid phone that came with a $3 credit already on the phone. I am not sure who the provider was through. Anyway...

My fiancee called my cell phone number and connected to someone else. She heard some people talking and some commotion in the background. She stayed on the phone for 9 minutes trying to get what she thought was "my" attention.

The problem is that the exact time when she called me, I was in a store but my phone did not ring and I had no missed call from her on my call log.

She called from her cell phone from Cyprus to my cell phone here in Baghdad, Iraq.

PLEASE!!!! Can someone explain to me how this happened?

This really means a lot to me to find out. I would greatly appreciate any information or stories.

hey look, i live and work here in mexico... i deal with this on a daily basis with condo renters who forget to tell their credit card companies that they are traveling abroad...

i just tested each of the conversions that i listed earlier... and guess what?

the numbers that are dialed using your instructions result in a spanish error message.

the numbers that were dialed using the conversion (i.e.: 880 instead of 800) result in an english language message stating, "access to the toll free number you have dialed is not available outside of the united states, if the call is answered, you will be charged the international rate"

sir, you should have done further research prior to quoting a document that was never implemented here in mexico... and isn't that the whole point, to answer the original question correctly?

sorry, but that information is incorrect and will result in a fast busy signal for most numbers

there are very few companies that have 800 forwarding systems that will take a mexican phone call and refer it to the united states, mostly companies such as airlines...

otherwise, according to the current telmex phone book, there are several conversions that can be made in order to call an american or canadian toll free number from mexico.
please note that these calls are no longer toll free, but at least you can get through to who you are trying to reach.

to call an 800 number, change the 800 to 880
to call an 888 number, change the 888 to 881
to call an 877 number, change the 877 to 882
to call an 866 number, change the 866 to 883

example: in order to dial "Adams Ant Company" in Toledo, Ohio, at 1-800-555-5565, you would need to dial 01-880-555-5565 (note the use of the mexican long distance code of "01", not the mexican international access code of "001")
