Strange indeed. Try calling your phone service provider to inquire about this - could be a problem with placing international calls on your wireless plan.

One other thing you can do - try dialing another Argentinian phone number to see if it works.

Yes, this is the format I use. The sms are received, but the calls fail. It's really annoying, I think I will get a new number only for calling there!

Hello,

It's a bit difficult to guess what the problem is in this case since you say that you can call this number using a different telephone line. Indeed cell numbers in Argentina start with 15 and these two digits must be dropped when dialed from abroad. You shoud have this dialing format from Greece:
00 54 9 followed by 1o digits (area code + cell number).

Hey guys!
So,here's my situation: After 3 months of communication with an Argentine number (sms and calls from me,I live in Greece, and calls from Argentina but no sms -because he has problems) I try to call, and there's a message in Spanish that says something about a number 15 ( I don't remember). The weird thing is that the sms are going ok, he receives them, and I can call the Argentine number from any other Greek phone, it has problem with mine only. What is going on? I am 100% that I call with the correct format of number (with 9 and the city's code omitting the 2 first digits of the number).
I'm going crazy!!!!

Hi Speedy:)
If you bought a USA sim card it means you will be given a USA phone number. These don't start with zero like they do in the UK. US numbers have this format: 3 digit area code followed by 7 digit local number (??? ??? ????). People in the UK woul dial 00 1 ??? ??? ???? from both landlines and cell phones. To dial the UK you would enter 011 44 followed by the UK number in national format without the starting zero.

It would be much cheaper to call a UK landline. Rates are provided online at http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/international/long-distance/go-phone-international.jsp (I believe they vary depending on which plan you bought).

Dear Sirs,
I live in UK and have just bought an AT+T Gophone USA simcard for our USA holiday.
I am uncertain what codes I would need to add to call the UK, and for UK friends to call this mobile in the USA.
I know I need to drop the 0 at the start of the mobile number and landline phone number.
Could you please tell me the codes for these four possibilities:

From my AT+T mobile in USA to a UK landline......
From my AT+T mobile in USA to a UK mobile ......
From UK landline to my AT+T mobile in USA .....
From UK mobile to my AT+T mobile in USA ......

Would it be generally cheaper for me to ring a UK landline than a UK mobile please?

Thanking you, Speedy.

You would dial 001 31 6281948**
You can also use the plus sign instead of 001 when dialing from your cell. If it doesn't work it's possible that your cellular plan does not allow international dialing - you would need to call your wireless provider for this.

Hello,

Your message is a bit confusing. From what I understand you are in Japan and trying to call a Singapore cell phone currently located in India. If this is correct you would dial: 010 65 followed by the cell number. I just tried dialing this number myself and I am getting a wrong number message. Moreover, according to my sources Singapore cell numbers can have the following two formats: 8??? ???? or 9??? ????. Your number starts with 5. Now, it is possible for some Singapore new cell numbers to start with 5, but I am not aware of such additions.

00 is the exit code used to dial out of the UK and 51 is Peru's country code. So from the UK you should dial the following: 00 51 9 ???? ???? (starting with 9 we have the cell number). Have you been dialing this with no success?

The telephone number in question works in Peru' but appears to be non existent when I call it from UK. The phone number starts with 00519 followed by 8 numbers. Could it be dependent on the sim card provider?

Hi, yes my experience with vodafone customer service though has been less than positive. It seems that both networks, on the Canada and New Zealand end, aren't totally aware of their network's international connections and since I am not on contract with vodafone the people actually in the store are also less than helpful. Thanks though

Hello,

Leaving out the starting 9 won't solve your problem. If this is the number you were provided then this is the number you should dial. Try using a different service to place this call. If you want I can try dialing one of these Indian cell numbers for you to see if the call goes through.

Hi, I am visiting New Zealand for three months and using a vodafone prepaid phone. I am trying to text my fiance who is in Canada with the Sasktel network. I have been informed by Sasktel that the only way we can text is if he sends me a text and I reply (1.5 intercarrier messaging). That worked for about a day, I was able to successfully respond to his texts but now he no longer receives my replys. What could have happened in a day?

I saw the instructions on your website for calling a cellphone in India (011 91 9? ???? ????) but I have had no luck. The customer service representatives w/ the calling cards I am using are telling me that the number can only be a maximum of 9 digits but the cell numbers I am trying to reach all have 10 digits like the format above and listed on your website (9? ???? ????). Should I take off the 9 after the 91 country code? Help
