Hi, my grandparents from South Korea came and our family is having trouble helping my grandmother calling her daughter (got remarried). She has her South Korean cell phone and is fine with roaming and everything, but we can't figure out how to call her daughter's cell or landline number. Her daughter currently resides in Houston and if anyone has any idea on how to make a call with her Korean cell phone to an American landline/cell line while she's (grandmother) in America, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping!

Hi Daniela,
For complete info on how to call from one country to another you can use the search form on our homepage.

I suppose you couldn't find the info because you were looking for Holland whose official name is the Netherlands. Anyway, since we're here I am going to briefly answer your question. To dial or text an Italian cell phone from Holland you would type in the following: 00 39 3?? ??? ????. The last 10 digits starting with 3 should be the Italian cell while 39 is Italy's country code.

Remember, the page below has complete and up to date info on reaching Italy from Holland:
http://www.howtocallabroad.com/results.php?callfrom=netherlands&callto=italy

I see. Often calls to these numbers from outside the UK are blocked, the reason being that 09.. numbers are pay per call and the caller would incur a higher charge. Same for 08 numbers which are toll free and again, they are meant to be toll free within the UK. Anyway, you can try dialing to see if it works. The way to dial is: 00 44 followed by the number without the leading zero. Example: 00 44 905 etc.

Hello Donna,
While in Ireland your phone becomes and Irish cell. This means that you will use the dialing sequence locals use for calling either Irish or international numbers. To be more specific:
-calls to the US: 00 1 ??? ??? ????
-calls within Ireland: dial what locals do; for example, calls to an Irish mobile phone have this dialing format: 08? ??? ????.

You're welcome Jaunty.

Steve,
I believe the fee and rate you mentioned are for just one phone, so in order to use two phones you both would be charged. Here's the logic behind this: when you call your wife from London you pay your charges for placing an international call to the US. The call is then routed back to the UK and your wife also has to pay charges for receiving the call to the UK. This is how international roaming works. If you would be in the UK and your wife at home in the US then only you would pay for calling or receiving calls. So, unless you have some special family plan from AT&T I think you'll both incur these fees. It wouldn't hurt to call AT&T to make sure.

I'm not exactly sure bout the rates. But what you just mentioned sounds like an expensive plan. It would probably be better to get cheap SIM cards from U.K once you guys get there.

You can actually make a search for U.K based prepaid SIM cards and get an idea what you might have to pay.

You can call AT&T for furthur clarification regarding the rates.

Re the international rate, ATT offers a World Traveler 5.99/month for international roaming that reduces the roaming charge from !.39/minute to 0.99/minute. Do you know if that is the full cost of such a call for us (I assume that both my wife and I would be charged the 0.99/minute rate), or is there also an "international long distance" fee in addition to the roaming fee? Again this is for the situation of us both visiting London with U.S.based cell phones.

We'll also look into the prepaid SIM cards.
