Previously, in order to dial to a mobile number in Peru one had to also enter the area code for the city/town called. Starting September 4 area codes are no longer needed for dialing Peru cell numbers, resulting in a unique numbering format for all Peruvian cell phones: 9?? ??? ???. Also, cell numbers lose the trunk code (zero) when dialed within Peru.</p> <p>Here are some sample dialing instructions:</p> <p>-Calls from US to Peru mobile: 011 + 51 + 9?? ??? ??? (previously 011 + 51 + area code + 9?? ??? ???)<br /> -More specific: calls from US to Lima cell phones (Lima has area code 1): 011 51 9?? ??? ???
