how do i send a sms from australia to a canadian cell phone

    i'm trying to send a sms to a canadian cell phone from an australian mobile. I can call the number i have by dialling 0011 1 780 YYY XXXX but cant seem to send a sms or mms. I have tried sending the message to the same number but it is rejected. I have also tried +1 780 YYY XXXX which appears to send but it doesnt get received. Can someone please help and tell me where I'm going wrong?

    Hi Fiona,
    Most likely there is an incompatibility between the two networks (Australian and US) and this is the reason why your message doesn't get sent/received. Call you wireless provider to inquire about this.
