Quick international dialing instructions
- From the USA/Canada:
- For calls to most countries dial the following: 011 + country code* + phone number
- For calls to countries within the North American Numbering Plan dial: 1 + area code + 7 digit phone number just like you would place a US interstate call (note that you will incur international charges)
- From any country to any country:
- dial: your country's exit code* + destination country code* + phone number
*See this list of country and exit codes
Tips for calling abroad:
- Calls to a cell phone in another country are usually charged much higher rates than calls to fixed lines; our advise: make sure you know what type of number you're calling (we provide info on what cell numbers look like for most countries)
- If the international number you wish to call starts with a 0 (zero), you must drop this starting digit when dialing the number; the 0 (zero) starting digit is called a "trunk code" and is used for calls within many countries; however, this trunk code is not necessary when calling a particular country from abroad
- When using a service to make international calls, especially a calling card make sure that you are aware of extra charges they might have (such as connection charges, or charges for unanswered calls)
