Notes

  1. To call or text a foreign telephone number you must use the international prefix of the country you are dialing from. Also known as international direct dialing (IDD) codes or exit codes, these prefixes are set to redirect calls or text messages to phone numbers registered in other countries. Nowadays international prefixes and the plus sign (+) can be used interchangeably. The plus sign is preferred by many because it works regardless of the country you are calling from.
  2. Country codes are used to dial phone numbers internationally. Each country has an assigned code of its own. In order to dial an international phone call you must always use a country code before the actual subscriber telephone number.
  3. National trunk prefixes are codes used to place calls within a certain country. They are left out when dialing in from abroad.
  4. The national subscriber number comprises the area code plus local number; in many countries cell phone numbers do not use area codes.
  5. Brazil XX carrier codes: Claro - 21; Telefonica - 15; Oi - 14, 31; TIM - 41.
  6. Chile 1XX carrier codes: Claro - 110, 155; Globus - 120; Telefonica del Sur - 121; Entel - 123; FIbersat - 158; Movistar - 181 (more Chilean carrier codes).
  7. In Cambodia different carriers use different international exit codes: Telecom Cambodia - 001, Royal Telecom - 007, VoIP - 008, South East Asia Telecom - 175 (check with your provider if you don't see it listed here).
  8. Colombia X(XX) carrier codes: UNE EPM - 5; ETB - 7; Movistar - 9; Tigo - 414; Avantel - 468; Claro Fixed - 456; Claro Mobile - 444.
  9. Finland 99X carrier codes: to dial abroad you may use either the default 00 exit code or a specific carrier code.
  10. Indonesia 00X/010XX carrier codes: Indosat Ooredoo - 001, 008, 01016; Telkom - 007, 01017; Smartfren - 01033; Axis - 01000; Gaharu - 01019 (some codes work with fixed and wireless services, others work with VoIP - check your provider's website for info and options available).
  11. To connect internationally from Israel you can use either the default 00 exit code or pick your carrier by using its carrier code.
  12. Dial 8, wait for a dial tone, then dial 10.
  13. When dialling between Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda use exit codes 005 for dialing to Kenya, 007 for Tanzania and 006 for Uganda.
  14. Peru 19xx carrier codes: Movistar - 1911; Claro - 1912; Americatel - 1977; IDT - 1914; Convergia - 1960; Nextel 1990.
  15. The default international exit code for Singapore is 000, but most carriers also use their own code of the format 0XX or 15XX for VoIP providers.
  16. South Korea has numerous phone service providers and, to dial your call using a specific carrier, you have to add its carrier code to the 00 international access code. Some one digit carrier codes: KT - 1; LG Uplus - 2; SK Broadband - 5. VoIP providers use 3 digit carrier codes. Here's a more complete list from Wikipedia.
