faxing to Kuwait

I’m trying to fax Kuwait from the USA. I enter the number as follows:
011-965-481-2???

I get a busy signal when I try that and another number. I’m sure the 011-965 is right, but is there like an area code that is required before the 481?

Edit – I stupidly missed the ‘2’ that is on the how to call Kuwait page. I’ll try that.

Edit again – I got a communications error instead of a busy signal when I dial 011-965-2481-2???. Can you just confirm that is the right format I should be dialing from the US to Kuwait?

Hello,

Kuwait phone and fax numbers are 8 digit while the number you have is just 7 digit. In 2008 Kuwait added one digit to all fixed and mobile phone numbers. If this is an old number try adding digit 2 (two) to it: 011 965 2481…. Below is a link to our announcement on Kuwait’s renumbering in 2008:

Yes, you should have 8 digits starting with 2 for Kuwait fixed lines.
