As of February 1, 2009 Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Agency (RURA) introduces a new updated telephone numbering plan for Rwanda as follows:
- Fixed numbers of the format 5?? ??? are added either 250 or 255 to become 250 5?? ??? or 255 5?? ???
- Mobile numbers of the format 08 ??? ??? are added digits 78 to become 788 ??? ???
- Mobile numbers of the format 03 ??? ??? are also added digits 78 to become 783 ??? ???
- A new CDMA mobile service was introduced with the dialing format: 75? ??? ???
The new and old numbering will run in parallel until 07/31/2009.
