Hi,

My girlfriend has an English mobile with her back in Portugal. Is it true that I could text this for free from my English phone here in England despite the distance/crossing of borders to send the message?

Also, does the same apply for calling?

Could someone explain the rules please?

Hi Dan,

It’s true that you can call/text her and incur the same rates you would if she were in England (or if you have free minutes/messages you will pay nothing). However, the calls/texts will not be free for her. In other words she will incur international charges because this is how international roaming works.
