    Hi there,

I was hoping you could help me with making an international call from a cell phone here in CHILE to another cell phone in AUSTRALIA. I have a local Chilean sim card in my phone and i am trying to call cell numbers in Australia. An example of an Australian cell number is this 0412 134 ???. What would be all the digits required to call and sms this cell number in Australia from a Chilean cell phone? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

    Hello Peter,

First of all you must drop the starting zero which is a digit used for calling within Australia only. This is what you should dial for both voice calls and text messages: 00 (Chile exit int. code) + 61 (Australia country code) + 412 134 ???.

Complete info on dialing from Chile to Australia is available on http://www.howtocallabroad.com/results.php?callfrom=chile&callto=australia

    I hope this helps.

    Hi,
I'm also trying to communicate with Australia from Chile. I'm trying to send a text message and I used the above codes and dropped the first zero from the Australian phone number but it keeps coming up with "call barred" and then "message not sent". I'm with the Chilean Claro network. Any advice would be much appreciated!
    thanks,
    Steph

    Steph,
Most likely you can not place international calls from your cell phone (int. calls can be blocked). Call your wireless operator to make sure that this is the reason you can not text and, if so ask them to unblock international calls for you.
