    What prefixes do I need to call a USA cell phone from Australia using an Australian cell phone?

    Hello,
    US cellular phones do not use a special national numbering format like Australian ones do - instead they use the same area codes for both landlines and mobile phones. This being said, to dial from Australia to the US you must use 0011 1 followed by the 3 digit US area code and 7 digit local number: 0011 1 ??? ??? ????.     Hello,

    From Germany to Australia you would dial 0011 49 followed by the German phone number (drop any initial zeros in the phone number):
