    Hallo,

I just have read your article about calling in Thailand.
Could you aswer my question about it.
If anywhere in Tailand and calling any Phone (normal-a push-button phone, cell-phone) do I have to use city code?
Even If I am within the area of the same city code? (e.g. when I am valling from Chiang Mai hotel to Chaing Mai restaurant)?
I will be very grateful for the answer,

    greetings from Poland!

    Hi Magdalena,

Thailand’s phone system is a closed one meaning they don’t use area codes. On our webpage providing Thai calling info we list “starting digits” for main cities in Thailand. These are not considered area codes. All Thai landline numbers are 8 digit and yes you have to dial the whole number. Same for cellular phones which are 9 digit.

Heads-up

Some information on these forums could be outdated - countries change their numbering plans periodically. We recommend using our top menu to double check the correct instructions for dialing to a specific country.
