    On March 1st, 2012 Djibouti Telecom S.A. announced an update of the country’s numbering plan, all fixed and mobile telephone numbers changing from 6 to 8 digits.

    Fixed telephone lines (landlines)

    Digits 21 have been added to all 6 digit fixed lines starting with the following 2 digits: 25, 29, 30, 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, 39, 45, 57, 58.

    Digits 27 have been added to all 6 digit fixed lines starting with the following 2 digits: 42, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54.

    NOTE that phone lines formerly starting with digit 5 are CDMA fixed wireless which is a type of wireless landline.

    Examples:

    Former Djibouti City landline using numbering format 25 ?? ?? becomes 21 25 ?? ?? as of March 1st, 2012.
    Former Djibouti City CDMA landline using numbering format 57 ?? ?? becomes 21 57 ?? ??.
    Former Tadjourah landline 42 ?? ?? becomes 27 42 ?? ??.

    Cellular phones

    Digits 77 have been added to all 6 digit cellular phone numbers starting with digits 6, 7 and 8.

    Example:

    Former cellular phone number using dialing format 80 ?? ?? becomes 77 80 ?? ??.
