About a year ago, the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA), Giza, Egypt announced a change in this country’s mobile phone numbering. Namely, all cellular phone numbers were added one digit after the leading digit 1 which doesn’t change. As a result, Egypt mobile numbers are now 10 digit.

    Changes by wireless carrier:

Digits 0, 1 and 2 were added after leading digit 1 for Vodafone, Etisalat and Mobinil subscribers respectively.

    Example: Vodafone mobile number 16 ??? ???? becomes 106 ??? ???? after October 6, 2011.

    Changes by leading digits:

    • 10 ??? ???? becomes 100 ??? ????
    • 11 ??? ???? >>> 111 ??? ????
    • 12 ??? ???? >>> 122 ??? ????
    • 14 ??? ???? >>> 114 ??? ????
    • 150 ??? ???? >>> 120 ??? ????
    • 151 ??? ???? >>> 101 ??? ????
    • 152 ??? ???? >>> 112 ??? ????
    • 16 ??? ???? >>> 106 ??? ????
    • 17 ??? ???? >>> 127 ??? ????
    • 18 ??? ???? >>> 128 ??? ????
    • 19 ??? ???? >>> 109 ??? ????

Our main page on dialing to Egypt provides up to date information. My apologies for not announcing this change on time.
