Starting March 15, 2010 the Oficina Reguladora de las Telecomunicaciones (ORTEL) Equatorial Guinea introduced a new numbering plan for this country by adding 3 digits in front of all existing 6 digit fixed and mobile phone numbers. Currently, calling an old number will trigger a message informing the caller of the change and what digits to add in front of the number.

For most landlines digits 333 must be added in front of the existing number. However, there are some instances where 33x or 35x must be added (clients usin HiTs operator).

For cellular numbers the following digits were added:

    • 222 for GESA subscribers
    • 551 for HiTs subscribers
