Fax to UK from Malaysia

I am trying to fax to UK using number 9 00 44 1223 XXX XXX – the last 6 digits is the phone number.

But the fax machine always prompt number that i dialed not reachable.

However using my phone a ringing tone could always be heard, in other words the number is all right. Do you know what is the problem using fax machine?

The only thing I can think of is, since you must dial 9 for an outside line maybe your fax machine does not recognize this code and somehow mixes up the digits you enter resulting in an inexistent phone number. Have you been able to fax internationally before using this machine?

Tks for prompt reply. But ‘9’ is the standard number before I can dial out whether it be local faxes or overseas. So I’m still confounded.

I understand that you must dial 9 for an outside line. I suppose you have used this fax machine before. But have you used it for faxing internationally? If not make sure your calling plan doesn’t block international calls/faxes for some reason.
