I’m having difficulties in sms’ing a friend on a cruise ship. He has a Global Maritime Cellular Operator service, which does have the ability to send and receive sms. His phone number starts with the usual 882. He has a Blackberry phone as well. He doesn’t have any problems receiving or calling either. I’m calling from Canada.
Also, is there any websites that I can use to text him from?
    Thank you for your time

    Hello,
If you are dialing the correct sequence (011 882…) and the message doesn’t reach your friend’s cell phone I would advise calling your wireless provider to ask why you can”t send this message (it is possible that international texting is blocked, etc).

Thank you for that information. I was wondering for him, should he use 011 1 (Canada) from his cell phone while onboard the vessel?
Thank you for taking your time to answer these questions. Also, his international texting isn’t blocked.

No, he should use 00 1 ??? ??? ???? to call Canada or the US. Or instead of 00 he can use the plus sign.

Heads-up: some information on these forums could be outdated - countries change their numbering plans periodically. We recommend using our top menu to double check the correct instructions for dialing to a specific country.
