I want my American friends to be able to text me from their phones or email.

I have an unlocked SFR phone – 06.22.21.6??

I tried to use the number@sfr.fr as an email address, but it didn’t work.

Did you talk to your wireless provider and they told you to use yournumber@sfr.fr to receive emails to your phone?

To send you SMS messages using their cell phones your American friends should use the same procedure used for calling you: 011 33 6?? ??? ???.
