trying to call a no. in Austria

hello, this is the number i have been given for a friend in Austria

0043 7281 205xx i have been dialing 011 43 7281 205xx to no avail what is it i am doing wrong.

Hi Sue and Happy New Year!
This looks like an Austrian landline. I just tried dialing it and it seems to be working fine – I let it ring once and hung up before someone had a chance to pick up. Replacing 00 with 011 is the correct way to dial from the US. What exactly happens when you dial this number? Have you dialed international calls before using the same Telephone service?
