Using a Verizon International Pkg, I was told just to dial the US country code and 1 plus the area code and number to get a call through to the states. That is different from directions used in Finland and Sweden last year. What do I have to do to use my cell to call US?

    Hello,

Dialing instructions for placing a call to the US from the UK, Finland or any EU country should be the same: 00 1 followed by the 3 digit area code and 7 digit local number. You may also use + instead of 00:
    +1 instead of 00 1.

So it is different for cell phones than land lines? You do not need an Exit code and then a Country Code with the cell phone (Verizon Global Package)? Just use +1 (area code) and number, is that correct? No UK country code 44 at all?
And if someone wants to reach me on my cell phone from the US? How do I tell them to do that?

If someone needs to contact me from the US to London from their cell phone to my cell phone, how can I instruct them to do that?

I have merged your last 2 posts to simplify this.

You do use an exit code and country code to call internationally. 00 is the exit code required for placing international calls from any EU country (UK included) and 1 is the US country code. When using + with a cell phone you basically instruct your phone service provider that this is an international call and, as a result, the exit code is added automatically. So you either use +1 or 001. Landlines do not have the plus sign on their keyboard.

While traveling to any country with your Verizon phone people from the US are not required to add any international codes to your existing US number. Verizon will transfer the call to wherever you are located.

Okay, here is another addition to the former question: Reverse this. If someone in the US wants to call me from a land or cell phone while I am in the UK and call my Verizon Cell number (in an emergency) what do I tell them to dial?

As I said above, they only need to dial your US cell number AS IF you were in the US.

Heads-up

Some information on these forums could be outdated - countries change their numbering plans periodically. We recommend using our top menu to double check the correct instructions for dialing to a specific country.
