I am an American college student studying abroad in Italy. My roommates and I will be traveling to Spain next week, but I will be arriving several days after them. We all have Italian cell phones, so if I want to call or text them when we are all in Spain, what do I do? I’m assuming I can’t just call or text the number as is – do I just put in Spain’s country code ahead of the phone number, or is there something else I have to do?

    Hello,
To call your friends while you are all Spain you should dial as if they were in Italy. You would have: 00 39 3?? ??? ???? (the last 10 digits after 39 is the Italian mobile number). To call them (in Spain) while you are still in Italy just dial what you normally dial when they are in Italy.

Heads-up

Some information on these forums could be outdated - countries change their numbering plans periodically. We recommend using our top menu to double check the correct instructions for dialing to a specific country.
