Calling Vietnam – what am I dialing wrong?

Hi. I am trying to call a number in Vietnam (0289869???) but i dont know what city it belongs to. Can you please help!.

Hello Nathan,

First of all, when dialing this number from abroad you must drop the starting zero. Secondly I couldn’t find this area code. There are 280, 281 but not 289. Are you sure this number is correct? There are many numbers in the 280 range belonging to the Thai Nguyen city.

Also, there were some recent changes made to the VT numbering plan described on this page: https://www.howtocallabroad.com/forums/topic/vietnam-telephone-numbering-plan-changes
