    Hi Allan,

That’s not how international roaming works. Your daughter will call you as if you were in Canada (no international codes are needed). Your wireless provider will route the call automatically to the partner Swedish carrier.

Secondly, it doesn’t make sense for you to use the same calling card unless the calling card provider gave you a Sweden local number to call instead of the 1800 number. If you call the Canadian 1800 number from Sweden you will pay for the call (it’s only free when dialed from North America). So you either call your daughter directly from your cell by dialing 00 1 519 ??? ???? (which may get expensive), or you can buy a Sweden calling card with a local number and dial this number to connect. This will not be cheap either. Generally using your cell phone abroad is expensive. I would buy a calling card and use it with a payphone to call back to Canada.

The following page explains in detail how international roaming works.

    Hi Willy,

Togo doesn’t use area codes for geographic numbers. For Aneho landlines have this format: 3?? ????. Cell phones have the format 9?? ???? across all Togo regions.

The numbers you used are correct. You can also try using the plus sign to replace 011 (+93 77 ???????). If it still doesn’t work call your cell carrier to inquire about this issue. It is possible that your plan doesn’t allow international texting.

    Hi Patrick,

We’d all want to stop paying for services we use:) Nothing is free though. And when you find something that is supposed to be free there is always a catch. In the case of international calls you could for example use Skype to place free calls between two computers connected to the Internet. However, the calls are not really free considering that you are paying for the Internet connection. Moreover, Skype or any VoIP service is not free when dialing a regular telephone number.

What you could probably do is lower your international calling costs by looking for a new service. Calling cards are generally the most cost effective products used for dialing internationally.

When someone has cellular roaming service in another country nothing changes in the way you dial the number from the country the phone is registered in. In other words just dial the number as if the person you are calling were in Malaysia.

    Hello,
Faxing works the same as calling. This is a German phone number in Berlin. To send a fax from USA dial: 011 49 3045055??? (49 is Germany’s country code).

You mean Verizon doesn’t use GSM. Well it is possible that only providers that have a contract with the Chinese carrier can receive texts. The only way around this would be to either change the Chinese carrier or the US one. Or find an online service that lets you send text messages. One example: Talksms.com

TMobile uses GSM technology while MetroPCS uses CDMA. Sometimes different technologies used by 2 cellular providers can cause problems with text message delivery. I believe this is what the Chinese carrier rep. was trying to say.

    Hello,
While in France you will call French numbers the way people call them over there (no country codes, your phone becomes a French phone for dialing out). So you would just dial the number as it is 06 73 etc. The page below shows you how to call from France to France

I don’t know what else to suggest. Try contacting the people offering this SMS service as this seems to be a problem on their end.

    Hi,
The site in question ads a plus sign (+) before the country code. This means that you no longer need to add 00. This is for placing international calls too – either you add plus or the exit code which is 00 for Iran. In conclusion you should have +1678….

00 is used for dialing internationally from certain countries (Indonesia not included). You don’t need 00 to dial nationally within Indonesia.

    Hello,
Dropping the zero before 7 is the way to dial if you are in the US/Canada. I can try dialing this number for you to see if I too get a dropped call (I would need the whole number in this case).

Not for you. There will be extra fees for your friend in both cases. See this page explaining how calling a cell phone roaming abroad works.

Hm, you’re not paying attention to the info we provide. Yes, there was a numbering change for Morocco about 1 year ago. Indeed you must add a 6 before 7. All these changes are explained on https://www.howtocallabroad.com/forums/topic/morocco-telephone-numbering-changes and this page is also linked from https://www.howtocallabroad.com/results.php?callfrom=south_africa&callto=morocco
