    Hi,

The codes you are using are correct. Sometimes using the plus sign instead of 011 works better for text messages (although both methods should work). If using the + sign doesn’t work either try calling Solo to see what they have to say. Looking at their plans at https://www.solomobile.ca/en/ I can see that not all have international texting included – I suppose yours does, but I’m just checking.

Same thing – just dial it the way locals do. Portugal’s telephone plan has no area codes and all landlines are 9 digit and start with 2 (two): 2 ???? ????.

Calling between two US cell phones in Portugal has this format:
    00 1 ??? ??? ????
Basically you dial back to the US and the wireless company redirects your call back to Portugal where the person you want to reach actually is. This generally results in high charges for both of you.

Calling a Portugal cell has this format:
9 ???? ???? (no international codes needed here).

    Hi John,

No, the trick is that you don’t actually have to dial any special codes to reach a US cell roaming outside the country – just dial it the way you normally do.

    Hello,
So what kind of help do you need? To call Liberia from China you should dial 00 231 followed by the Liberian phone number. Visit the page below for complete dialing formats when calling both Liberian landlines/cell phones:

    Hi Cathy,
Dial 00 1 ??? ??? ????. Your call will be connected to the US and then redirected back to the UK where this US person is. This is how these types of international roaming calls work. You will get charged international rates and so will the person receiving the call. The US cell can call your UK cell by dialing 07??? ??? ???.

    I hope this helps.

You call this mobile traveling in Canada as if they were still in Ireland. In other words you don’t change anything in the way you call this number – their wireless provider will automatically redirect the call to wherever they are. Here’s a page explaining in detail how international roaming for cell phones works:

    Hello,

It depends on where the phone is registered. There are 3 ways to place a call in the US:
-dialing just the local 7 digit number for local calls
-dialing the 3 digit area code followed by the 7 digit local number usually working for calls outside local calling area
-dialing 1 before the area code (1 ??? ??? ????) for state to state calls or for calls to US territories abroad

The latter two methods often work for local cals as well.

If my answer doesn’t solve your problem let me know and I will try to help you further.

    Hi Nancy,

To dial this Japanese cellular number from the Philippines you must enter 00 81 90 9??? ????. 00 is the code used to dial international calls from your country, 81 is Japan’s country code and the rest is the Japan mobile # (you must leave out the starting zero because that is a trunk code used for calls made within Japan).

    Hi Andy,

This looks like a Jonannesburg landline. To reach this number from the UK you must drop the starting zero and add 00 27 to it (00 27 11 267 ….).

    Hello Mary,
People in the US will call you as if you were still in the US (no international codes needed). Your wireless carrier will automatically redirect the call to South Africa.

To make calls back home you need to put 00 before the complete US number: 00 1 ??? ??? ????.

One thing: if you have more info regarding this problem please post it as a reply to this message – do not open a new thread. As for the other message you posted: the 0011 code is used to dial internationally from Australia. From Nigeria you should use 009 instead.

    Hello,
The number does look like a Guyanese phone and the codes entered are correct: 009 to dial out of Nigeria and 592 is Guyana’s country code. What do you mean by “not responding”? Is nobody answering the phone? Because if the phone rings and nobody answers maybe you should try later.

    Hi Crystal,

As a general rule I can confirm that using a cellular phone abroad for placing and receiving calls can get expensive. It wouldn’t hurt to ask your wireless provider what the rates are. As for getting a Chinese cell just for your stay there – yes, this is a good option, but again before buying it you should inquire about rates charged.

Another option would be for you to use a calling card service. These usually charge much lower rates (we list such a service at the bottom of each country page – for example https://www.howtocallabroad.com/china/). You could either use this type of service from a local chinese landline or in connection with the throw away cell you intend to buy. Obviously the first option would be the least expensive, but people would not be able to call you.

    Hello,
To place calls your phone works just like cellular phones in the country you are in work. On the other hand, to receive calls your phone works as if you were still in the US.

Sample call to a Japanese cell while in Japan: 090 ???? ????.
Sample call to the USA from Japan: 010 1 ??? ??? ????. The exit code 010 used by Japan is 00 when dialing internationally from both China and Malaysia. Since you are using a cellular phone you can also enter the plus sign as a replacement for 010 or 00.

Here’s a page explaining in detail how international roaming works for both outgoing and incoming calls:

    Hello.
Lebanon has country code 961. There is no country code 9617 (7 is likely the first digit of the Lebanon landline or mobile number). See the page below for more info:

Yes, I believe that being able to dial these numbers could also depend on which provider you are using – call your provider’s support to inquire about this. As for the way to dial: you either use the exit code of the country you are dialing from or you use the plus sign. In other words, when using the plus sign the dialing sequence is the same from all 3 countries: +800 ???? ???? (and not +11 or +1).

    Hello,
Universal or international toll free numbers are assigned a country code like unique international area code which is 800. All 4 countries you listed participate in this international toll free program so the answer is yes, you can place calls from all 3 countries as follows:
    -from UK you would enter: 00 800 ???? ????
    -from Australia: 0011 800 ???? ????
    -from Singapore 001 800 ???? ???? (or 008 instead of 001).

Here’s a page providing more info on these types of numbers:

    Andra,

I got your number – it is a landline from New Jersey (US state neighbouring New York). You do not need to add New York’s area code 212 – just dial the number as it is: 00 1 609 771 ????. All US phone numbers are 10 digit including area code. This is not a NY number.
