    Hi Jeff,

No, New Zealand cell phones do not incur charges for incoming calls. You will however pay higher rates than you would for dialing a NZ landline.

    Hi Ellen,

The dialing pattern Country Code + 0 is not valid for countries using zero as a trunk code. However, there are some countries (Italy is an example) that have zero as part of their phone numbers. In this case, dialing CC+zero is a must since you can only reach a person if you dial the complete telephone number. I do not have a list of these countries, frankly, besides Italy I do not remember of another one.

The instructions we give are for all of Cuba. We list the starting 5 for our visitors to be able to recognize cellular numbers. This is not like an area code, it’s a digit that’s part of cell numbers in Cuba. In other words, the number your husband gave you would normally be already complete and you wouldn’t need to add anymore digits. The thing is that likely the military base over there uses some special services to communicate. Have you tried dialing the way your husband told you? On second thought, maybe he knew something we don’t. Try that also.

    Patrizia,

The 001 in the beginning makes no sense (it can’t be used from anywhere). The correct way to dial from Europe is 00 53 99848.. and from the US you replace 00 with 011. Again, it’s difficult for me to guess why the call doesn’t go through. Could be a problem with the number (a missing digit for example). Or could be a problem with the service you are using to dial. To eliminate this last possible cause try using a different line to dial this number.

    Hi Patrizia,

This is indeed how you dial Guantanamo Bay (since it is in Cuba). It’s hard to tell why it won’t go through. What is the number you are dialing exactly (you can replace the last 2 digits with ?? if you don’t want to make it public)?

    Hello,

You just wrote the correct way to dial except you don’t need to add the plus sign. So just dial 00 230 followed by the 7 digit cell number. You will of course pay international charges for dialing this number.

    Hello,

To dial a Morocco registered cell from France you would enter: 00212 6? ??? ???? (you leave out the starting zero in the cell number).

As for calling the number with the zero and without the international codes – it is possible for someone in France to have the same number.

    Hello,

I see you are from Canada so I suppose you are trying to dial a Canadian/US toll free number from Portugal. First of all, if you will be able to dial the toll free number the call will not be free of charge. Toll free numbers are meant for free of charge calls dialed within a particular country. Secondly, some companies block access to their toll free numbers when called from abroad just because it doesn’t make sense for both parties to pay for the call. Now, to call a Canadian/US toll free number from Portugal you should dial: 00 1800 (or whatever toll free prefix) ??? ????.

    Hello,

You will dial numbers as locals do (you don’t need to add the plus sign or country code 31). In this case you will add a zero in front of the cell number and this is what you will dial: 0618707???. Same dialing pattern for when you’ll use a Holland cell.

I’ve combined your posts. To dial your husband’s US cell you will have to enter +1 followed by area code and 7 digit cell number (or you can use 00 instead of the plus sign). Note that in this case you’ll both incur international charges.

    Hello,

If this is a Phillipines registered cell (and it looks like one) then you are dialing the right sequence when using 001 63 99…. It could be that your prepaid phone no longer has international calling activated. I would call the phone company providing the prepaid plan to inquire about this.

As for entering the plus sign – look for + on the cell phone keyboard. If you see it on one of the keys try quickly pressing it twice.

    Hello,

To call your daughter you must dial the US number as if she were still at home. If all you get is her voicemail then I would call Verizon to inquire about this. To call you she must use 010 1 followed by area code and local US number.

Regarding international rates: calling to a cell phone will cost more in most cases, including calling a UK cell. The majority of service providers advertise rates charged for calling a landline because they are the lowest. Generally they also provide info on charges for dialing a mobile number – you just have to look for this info.
